My first experience in biological illustration occurred when I updated the Hendrix College Zoology Lab Manual (see chapter links under "Zoology Lab Manual" heading) as an undergraduate. Hoping to improve my PNW-dwelling marine invertebrate skills, I took the Invertebrate Zoology course offered at OIMB. A significant portion of this 8-credit/10-week beast was to keep an extensive laboratory notebook of the critters we observed. The results of me pouring an exorbitant amount of time and energy into pen and paper are shared below. Apologies for the poor quality of the scans; you can see the original copy if you visit the Charleston Marine Life Center, where it is on display.
I am entirely self-taught, though I one day hope to take a structured course to improve my methods and skills.
